AFS Interkultur will make sure that the volunteer gets a mentor/contact person who will help the volunteer integrate into the Danish local community and support the volunteer with every matter related to the stay of the volunteer. AFS also helps the volunteer become part of the overall ESC volunteer network in Denmark.

AFS is a voluntary based, non-profit NGO organisation, independent of political and religious interest. In Denmark AFS started in 1957 and is today the oldest and largest exchange organisation in Denmark with more than 46 local chapters ( including Greenland and the Faroe Island) and more than 2.000 members, many of whom work as volunteers for the organisation. AFS Interkultur will make sure that the volunteer gets a mentor/contact person who will help the volunteer integrate into the Danish local community and support the volunteer with every matter related to the stay of the volunteer. AFS also helps the volunteer become part of the overall ESC volunteer network in Denmark. AFS is a leading study abroad program for secondary school students, supported and facilitated by trained staff and volunteers. Since 1947, AFS has prepared over 500,000 young people to gain the practical skills and knowledge valued by universities and employers—and needed to succeed in a global world.
